Terms of use

What you are agreeing to.

Written to be read, not to be skipped.

Draft. These terms need a lawyer's review before the site takes payment. They set out the intended position, not a settled one.

What this service is

A reference tool over the Statements of Principles made by the Repatriation Medical Authority and the Guide to Determining Impairment and Compensation (GARP M), within the scope of the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act.

What it is not

  • It is not medical advice and does not diagnose.
  • It is not legal advice.
  • It is not advocacy. We do not act for you, contact the Department on your behalf, or lodge anything.
  • It does not decide whether a factor is met, whether you are entitled, or what you will receive. Those are decisions for a delegate under the Act.

One account, one veteran

An account is for one person. The conditions you enter into a claim must be conditions you have been diagnosed with yourself.

Do not share your sign-in, and do not enter another person's conditions into your claim. Both are a breach of these terms and we may close the account without refund. If you are an advocate or an ex-service organisation running claims for other people, get in touch — that is a different arrangement and we would rather set it up properly than have you work around this one.

What a claim is, and what it covers

A claim is one payment of $99 covering every condition you name in it.

The list of conditions locks when payment goes through. You are warned before you pay, and you confirm at that point that you have added everything and that the conditions are your own. Conditions you want to add afterwards form a new claim at $99. This is how the service is priced, and it is why the warning is where it is.

The guides produced for a claim stay in your account for as long as the account exists. There is no renewal, nothing recurring, and nothing to cancel.

Payment

Payments are one-off and handled by Stripe. Card details never reach this site.

Nothing here limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law. If the service does not do what this site says it does, tell us and we will put it right. Forgetting to list a condition before paying is not a fault in the service, but talk to us anyway rather than assuming.

Accuracy, and its limits

Factor text is reproduced verbatim from the instruments and is not paraphrased. Every statement carries the instrument and clause it came from so you can check it against the Federal Register of Legislation yourself, and you are encouraged to.

Instruments change. We index them and flag known gaps in the tool itself, but the Register is the authority and this service is not a substitute for it. Where our material is known to be incomplete for a condition, the tool says so on the answer rather than leaving it out.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for the outcome of a claim. The service provides information about published law; it does not make or influence the decision on your claim, and it cannot promise a result. Nothing here excludes any guarantee that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

Copyright

The instruments are Commonwealth material used under licence — see attribution. The software, the index and the arrangement of the material are ours. Do not scrape, copy or redistribute the corpus, and do not use the service to build a competing index.

Ending access

You can delete your account at any time. Doing so deletes your claims and the guides with them, and cannot be undone — download them first.

We may close an account that is shared, that is used to run other people's conditions, or that is used to scrape the corpus.

Governing law

The law of South Australia, and the Commonwealth of Australia.
